Fiber Media Converter Kit
Test fiber optic network ports with any LinkIQ™ Tester
Use the Fluke Networks Fiber Media Converter (FMC) Kit to understand and debug the fiber port connections by determining application, switch name, port name and VLAN and verifying connectivity using IP ping. The FMC includes the Media Converters, SFPs, fiber optic cords and RJ45 cable to connect with any LinkIQ tester to troubleshoot network connectivity.
- Connects to 1 Gb/s (1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX) and 10 Gb/s (10GBASE-SR, 10GBASE-LR) fiber Ethernet ports through a media converter and SFP (1G/10G) using single-mode or multimode optic fiber cables
- Compatible with LinkIQ Cable+Network Tester and LinkIQ Duo Cable+Wi Fi+Network Tester
- Fiber optic network testing features including: IPv4 and v6 ping, nearest switch diagnostics (IP address, name, port / VLAN number)
- Power bank for portable operation
- Includes single carrying case for LinkIQ/ LinkIQ Duo tester, media converters (1G or/and 10G), battery pack, fiber optic patch cords (single-mode and multimode), RJ45 connector cable, SFPs (single-mode and multimode) and accessories

Key Features
- Connects LinkIQ testers to 1 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s fiber Ethernet ports
- Provides ping and nearest switch diagnostics
- Includes single case for LinkIQ, converters, and accessories
- Manage results and print reports from LinkWare™ PC
When testing a connection through the FMC, the “Network” test provides results that can tell you if you have an Ethernet connection to the device at the far end (typically a switch) and if you can send IP traffic to targets at the far end. The result you get looks something like the screen below and here is what it can tell you.

- If there is information here, you have a network connection to the switch. If not, either you are not connected or the device at the far end is unmanaged.
- This information relates to the connection to the media converter, not the fiber connection.
- If there is a response to the ping, you have a network connection, and the target is responding. If not, either you are not connected, or the target is not reachable or not responding.
